As mentioned earlier that every single person has the right of being healthier whether he/ she is an Indian or not. You can see various videos on the internet nowadays that irrespective of country, almost everyone is performing yoga. This is proof that anyone can perform yoga.
3.YOGA IS ALL ABOUT POSTURES:
You must have seen many pictures of yoga, where a person is performing and maintaining a body posture which is also known as asana. Truthfully, yoga is not just asana but much more than this. Yoga is very comprehensive; asana is just one aspect of yoga. It involves pranayama (breathing practices), Yama, niyama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.
So next time, whenever somebody says yoga is just asanas, correct them and provide knowledge to them.
4.YOGA IS FOR WOMEN:
You must have seen so many videos and pictures where only women are performing yogic practices, which created the misbelieve that yoga is meant for women only. Honestly, this is a complete myth. Men or women, anyone can do yoga to have a disease-free and stress-free lifespan.
5.YOU NEED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL:
Yoga can be learned with practice and patience. Of course, it takes time to be perfect at yoga. A professional was once a beginner. So, stop thinking that you need to be a perfect yogi/ yogini.
6.WOMEN SHOULD AVOID YOGA DURING PREGNANCY:
Some ladies believe that performing yoga during pregnancy or mensuration can be harmful. But this is a full myth. Yoga is beneficial in both cases. Various yoga practices should be performed by the ladies to have a healthy baby. It should be considered that she should perform this under someone’s guidance or a competent teacher.
7.YOGA IS DONE BY PEOPLE WITH POOR HEALTH:
Again, a big myth!! Yoga can be performed by anyone. Healthy people also perform this to maintain their mental and physical fitness. Yoga should be done by everyone, irrespective of their gender, age, and health.
8.YOGA IS FOR AGED PEOPLE:
Today’s generation believes that yoga is for aged ones and the gym is for young people. Well, again a complete myth. Yoga keeps us fit, not only physically but mentally also. Anybody can do it irrespective of their age.
9.ONE SHOULD BE FLEXIBLE WHILE PERFORMING YOGA:
Flexibility comes with practice only. Everybody has some extent of flexibility. But anyone can gain it while performing asanas and continuous practice. You need not be flexible from the very beginning.
10.ONE SHOULD DIET WHILE DOING YOGA:
People have misconceptions that diet is starving themselves and one should starve themselves while practicing yoga, which is a complete myth. Diet means having a balanced food with complete proteins, carbs, minerals, and vitamins.
